Strong drama set in Ireland in 1652-54 during the time of the English

Government Policy to clear large areas of Northern Ireland of Catholics

and those English Settlers who fought for King Charles the first.• The

play follows two families during this very difficult period.• It is a play

that is as relevant to-day as it was then, in that it deals with religious and

racial bigotry and ethnic cleansing.

 

   THE CHARACTERS

 

Killaine Farrell       25-30    Irish accent essential   Fey.

Madeleine Preston       25-30    Slight Irish accent.  Feisty, good bearing.    

Robert Preston      25-35   English Gentleman. Good bearing

Pierce Kinsellagh       25-35    Strong Irish accent. Angry rebel

Solomon Winter       50-65    English gentleman farmer

Susaneh Winter       50-65    Wife of above - very bitter about Cromwell

Sir Charles Sturman      45-60    Puritan Governor, bigot anti-catholic; cold

Commissioner       30-60     Fair minded Puritan but legalistic

Sailor; soldier      20-50    British

Judge      50-60     Cold Puritan
